Responding To Literature
Sketch one of the characters pick 3 words/character traits to describe them
Make an “award” for main character using character traits : Bravery Award goes to Jack for defeating the Giant or Most wanted: Greedy Giant for stealing people’s money
Design a new book cover including title, illustrator, picture using details from the book
Make a commercial or advertisement persuading friends/family why they should read this book
Write a song about your favorite character
Make a comic strip explaining the theme
Write a script of your favorite part and act it out
Re-write the ending of the story
Re-write story from another characters point-of view
Compare/contrast the character from one book to another
Create “Top 10” - 10 interesting facts you learned
Write other questions you still have about the topic and try to research them
Pick 4/6 new vocabulary words from story and either write what they mean or illustrate them using context clues
Create a timeline of events
Choose a text feature write about how it helped understand the text
